Derivation Rules: Adressering

What is adressering?

Adressering contains all the data you need for sending letter post or a mailing. Ready to use, without your having to process any data yourself. To produce the letter you need:

  1. the aanschrijfwijze of the addressee, in line with the addressee's chosen use of the partner name and any titles of nobility
  2. adresregel 1 (address line 1)
  3. adresregel 2 (address line 2)
  4. adresregel 3 (address line 3)
  5. land (country)
  6. the aanhef of the addressee. With this introductory sentence you greet the reader correctly, with Geachte or Hoogwelgeboren heer.
  7. gebruik in lopende tekst, for when you refer to a person in the body of the letter
  8. indicatie-vastgesteld-verblijft-niet-op-adres, which you receive only where an investigation by the source holder has established that the person does not live at the address where they are registered.

You can use the first five items in the letter for a window envelope. The address lines are abbreviated in accordance with NEN 5825, so that they fit within the window of a window envelope. A public space recorded in the BAG as “Burgemeester Le Fèvre de Montignylaan” is then abbreviated as “Burg L F de Montignyln”.

Always check for deceased persons

For persons registered in a Dutch municipality you can check for death using the suspension data you receive automatically. Note: for persons from the RNI you cannot use this and must check the date of death.

Authorizing

Electronic post or letter post

Consumers can be authorized for adressering in two ways:

  1. Adressering (letter post): the consumer is authorized for the whole Adressering group
  2. Electronic adressering: a consumer that communicates with its customers electronically only is authorized for a group containing all adressering fields without the address lines and country.

Domestic adressering only

For municipalities, the BRP API Personen offers the option of implementing two authorization profiles for address line fields, in line with the authorizations for verblijfplaats:

  1. authorized for BOTH address lines of domestic residences AND address lines of foreign residences (adresregel1, adresregel2, adresregel3 and land)
  2. authorized EXCLUSIVELY for address lines of domestic residences (adresregel1 and adresregel2)

Read in Filtering the Personen response how to use the fields parameter in that case.

Reading guide to the derivation rules

The derivation rules for adressering have been coordinated with the Hoge Raad van Adel (Supreme Council of Nobility). Want to know more? Read here how the adressering fields are derived:
